What is terroir. How does terroir affect the taste of wine?
Today we will discuss terroir. What is it?
Why does it greatly affect the taste of wine?
⠀
Terroir is a combination of all local winemaking factors that determine the bouquet of wine before aging.
⠀
There are four main points that affect the taste of wine.
After harvesting, corking, fermenting the bottle, the fun begins. Further, biochemical transformations begin to occur which are directly related to the soil where the grapes grew, with the climate, etc.
⠀
The first important aspect for good quality grapes is the soil: its composition, thickness, content of macromicroelements.
⠀
Point number two is the climate. The hotter the country the tarter wines. The cooler the more aromatic wines.
⠀
The third point is the relief, mountains, lakes, the proximity of rivers, oceans, all this can really affect the taste of wine.
For example, our Arba Wine vineyards are located in a unique place where the steppe soars directly into the mountains.
⠀
And finally the fourth point is flora and fauna. Wine absorbs everything: both the plants that grow nearby and the animals that live. All this greatly affects the taste of wine!
⠀
Look for the "terroir" of the wine!
It is very interesting!
